Attention undergraduates! Apply to become a Community Archives Fellow with the Penn State Libraries launching in fall 2025 based at University Park campus. This two-year fellowship (2025-2026 and 2026-2027) offers the opportunity to gain: Hands-on training of digital tools and methods used for storytelling, data analysis, and visualizations; Skills in researching archival material of people, communities, and events that could benefit from being highlighted in a digital project; An understanding of the history of community archive projects through readings, studying websites, and guest speakers. This fellowship requires approximately 6-8 hours a month: 3-4 hours a month of in-person meeting sessions (meeting 2 hours every 2 weeks); 3-4 hours a month of reading and viewing materials, online group discussions, and preparing for in-person sessions. In year 2, you will present a digital project that you create based on materials from Penn State Libraries collections. Compensation: You will be paid an hourly rate of $20 an hour. Successful participation and continuation in the project will be based on attendance and your contributions that nurture the discussions and events to enrich everyone’s learning experience. Qualifications: Ideally entering your second or third year of undergraduate work in fall 2025 or you can commit two-years to the project. Actual timelines and project components may shift. Please be open to adjusting and all major changes will be in consultation with the wider cadre.
