Departmental Overview

The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics employs over 275 staff and coaches, sponsoring 30 varsity sports with more than 850 student-athletes participating annually within NCAA.

This position supports the operation of the basketball program and the development of student-athletes, serving as a mentor and liaison to other university units involved in student-athlete development.

Responsibilities

  1. Plan, organize, and implement mid-size athletics programs such as Marketing, Ticketing, Equipment, Video, and Sports Management.
  2. Serve as a liaison between coaches and campus/department staff, focusing on holistic student-athlete development, collaborating with Compliance and Student-Athlete Development offices.
  3. Coordinate with departments to assist student-athletes with academics, financial aid, orientation, community service, and housing.
  4. Oversee team managers and maintain accurate files and reports, including scouting reports and opponent data.
  5. Assist in planning and executing practice and game strategies, including opponent scouting and film review.
  6. Develop and share analytical reports with coaching staff based on team and opponent film analysis.
  7. Support the academic success of student-athletes through coordination with the Athletic Study Center, progress reports, class checks, and study hall arrangements, including during travel.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach, including professional development.

Required Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of program activities and best practices.
  • Problem-solving, multi-tasking, and effective listening skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency with relevant computer applications.
  • Experience managing administrative and operational aspects of athletic programs.
  • Ability to coordinate travel, scheduling, and logistics.
  • Familiarity with managing databases and organizational systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with coaches, athletes, staff, and partners.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Education, Psychology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in college athletics administration, preferably with basketball operations or player development.

Salary & Benefits

Salary range: $90,000 - $120,000. Full-time, one-year contract, eligible for UC benefits. Exempt, paid monthly.
