Job Description

SEO Technical Manager & Data Analyst
Atlanta, GA (hybrid)

About the Role:
Alloy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Digital Marketing Manager with a strong background in data analysis, technical SEO, and implementation strategy. This pivotal role focuses on building, maintaining, and optimizing analytics infrastructure across a range of client accounts, with a strong emphasis on GA4, Looker Studio, and Google Tag Manager execution.

The ideal candidate will support strategic marketing decisions by ensuring data accuracy, actionable reporting, and SEO performance rooted in best practices, even in highly custom or headless (decoupled) environments. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders and developers to troubleshoot implementation challenges, uphold data privacy standards (including evolving consent modes, GDPR evaluations, and first-party data implications), and provide clarity around evolving trends like AI Overviews and zero-click behavior. While deep technical expertise is paramount, this role is ideal for someone comfortable working in the background, providing high-level data analysis and insights to inform overarching client strategies. This role will also provide strategic and technical support to the Director of SEO & Analytics, helping to drive innovation, efficiencies, and forward-looking solutions across the department.

Details of the SEO Technical Manager & Data Analyst Role

  • Lead Google Tag Manager implementations, including advanced data layer strategy, event tracking, and troubleshooting across complex decoupled site environments (e.g., Storyblok, Netlify, Pantheon).
  • Own and maintain GA4 configurations, including custom events, conversion tracking, and sophisticated audience segmentation.
  • Design, build, and manage Looker Studio dashboards and data visualizations for internal use and client-facing reporting, translating complex data into actionable insights.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with evolving data privacy regulations, including first-party data updates, cookie consent, GDPR, and emerging U.S. regulations, guiding implementation efforts for Consent Mode v2.
  • Conduct and support technical SEO audits and implementation guidance
  • Leverage AI tools and technologies to enhance SEO analysis, content evaluation, and trend forecasting, developing strategies to optimize sites for AI and understand the impact of AI Overviews and zero-click search.
  • Develop scalable approaches for tracking and measuring the impact of AI-related search changes across client sites, adapting reporting to showcase brand visibility and direct answers in an AI-driven landscape.
  • Test, evaluate, and document AI-related reporting frameworks and methodologies, including visibility tracking and traffic correlation studies
  • Collaborate with developers and client teams to align SEO best practices with custom tech stacks
  • Provide analysis and strategic recommendations based on large datasets, translating raw data into actionable insights that support client and internal decision-making
  • Assist in developing internal POVs and client education materials around AI-driven search and its implications for content and technical strategy
  • Stay current on AI and search trends (e.g., AI Overviews, zero-click impact, SGE) and provide actionable insights to evolve SEO strategy
  • Support the Director of SEO & Analytics in building scalable solutions, refining department processes, and surfacing data-backed insights that inform broader marketing strategies

Skillset Needed:

  • 4+ years of digital marketing, analytics, or marketing ops experience
  • Proven hands-on expertise with GA4, Google Tag Manager (GTM), and Looker Studio, including advanced implementation and dashboarding.
  • High expertise in Google Tag Manager implementation strategies, including data layer, event tracking, and familiarity with the changing nuances of consent modes and GDPR evaluations.
  • Deep understanding of technical SEO and experience working within complex CMS/back-end environments
  • Ability to synthesize large datasets into clear insights and recommendations that support client strategy and team performance
  • Familiarity with market trends in AI, with a thought process on how to optimize sites for AI and the impact of AI Overviews and zero-click search on reporting and data analysis.
  • Comfortable working behind the scenes; client-facing skills are a bonus but not required
  • Strong written documentation and process skills
  • Proactive and adaptable, with a passion for continuous learning and problem solving in a fast-paced, evolving digital landscape
